Our collective actions will help reduce rising temperatures, strong typhoons, floods, food shortages, wildfires, and pandemics.

It is not really the environment that needs saving, it’s us.

I was hesitant to write about the environment. It felt hypocritical because I am an environmental offender in many ways. Among my offenses are running a neighborhood retail store and a small woodworking business.

But then, aren’t we all nature offenders in small and big ways? Not talking about the environment because I’m guilty in some ways will not make anything better. When it comes to saving our environment, we can do more if there are billions of us doing the right things imperfectly, instead of a few doing the right things perfectly. It’s not all or nothing. Doing small things right for the earth in areas where we can is better than nothing. And, if there are billions of us who are talking about it and taking action, the government and big businesses will be forced to take action too. That’s what we want and need to happen.

Just because I am hurting the earth in one way, doesn’t mean I should give up caring altogether. While I can’t give up…
