The book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey was first published the year I was born. I only read it now that I am 32 years old but the lessons in it remain relevant. Perhaps we even need the contents more than ever.
It’s a good read for everyone who values relationships and would like to contribute to humanity the best they could.
These lines are not the 7 habits. These are sentences or headings that made me stop, read the line again, and savor the essence of every word.
Did you ever consider how ridiculous it would be to try to cram on a farm — to forget to plant in the spring, play all summer and then cram in the fall to bring harvest?
Unless you’re playing FarmVille, you cannot possibly harvest a few minutes after planting. Yet in many areas of our lives, we fail to plant in spring due to many factors including distractions, laziness, and procrastination. At this time when the number of distractions has multiplied many folds since this book was written, this line is worth reflecting on all the more.
Our society achieved so much that was unthinkable decades ago. Yet we cannot escape how nature works. The rule of harvest is still applicable. We need to sow seeds…
